To our grandad
Today the earth was quiet,
as if even the wind knew your name.
In the hush between heartbeats,
sunflowers leaned a little closer,
their golden faces turned
not just to the sun,
but to you.
You left fingerprints in soil and sky,
in every careful seed you planted,
in every engine you brought to life,
where steel and spirit met
on open roads that never really end.
We wore sunflowers for you today,
bright as memory,
steady as love,
a small echo of the gardens
you made bloom in all of us.
And somewhere beyond our sight,
where the light is always warm
and the roads run smooth forever,
you’ve found her again—
your Rosemarie—
waiting like spring after a long winter.
So ride easy, Peter,
through fields that never fade.
We’ll look for you
in every sunflower that stands tall
and every quiet moment
that feels like home.
Love always, Adam & AJ
