Carl was my best friend. We met in 1950 when we joined Mumbles Infants. We were in the same class through Mumbles Junior Mixed then, having passed the 'Scholarship', went to Bishop Gore Grammar School. There we progressed to the Science Sixth from which Carl went on to study Physics while I opted for Metallurgy. When I married Jacky Dahlgren, Carl was my best man. Despite both of us moving to England we stayed in contact and had many long phone calls. Carl and Chris moved back to Mumbles a few year after us and we could meet up again. I will miss his encyclopedic knowledge of local and maritime history and our long phone calls.
