For Our Dear John, & a Tribute In Remembrance of John's Most Loyal & Faithful Companion, his Olde Englishe Sheepdog, Lucky. Sometimes referred to as 'A Dulux Dog', Lucky was truly a most beautiful, wonderful, marvellous & gentle dog: a real 'Fidetes Archates', a life-long friend who wd always have guarded John with her life. Never far from his side, when John was staying in Derriford Hospital, his bed was just next to the windows of his Ward, & when friends & family came to visit him, he told me that they wd also bring Lucky, & walk her in their garden grounds right beside his own ward windows, so he cd look out into these grounds, & see her walking along! [They cd also bring Lucky's sister dog, a Sheepdog-Collie Cross, owned by John's own Sister, Sheila]. This gave John a chance to see his own much beloved dog Lucky, & he had always said, whenever he visited his Sister's Home at Christmas, & for other Family Occasions, both their two dogs, half-sisters with the same Mother Dog, (another Olde Englishe Sheepdog), wd curl up together on the Hearthrug, beside the brightly-burning fire...& enjoy the fireside with all their Family. John loved Lucky so much! We all loved her too, & so much enjoyed being able to walk her in the nearby Park, as John was on a Zimmer-Frame & cd not take her out himself; so we Dog-Walkers took her along with us! Lucky loved coming out for walks with us!! So I wish to light two candles; one for John, & another for Lucky, & if anyone amongst John's own Circle of Friends & Family, Loved Ones & Dear Ones, have any Pictures & Photo's of John & Lucky together, then they too wd also make a Most Fitting Tribute to John & Lucky...one which all John's own friends wd love to see, Lucky being quite devoted to her Master, & never was any dog ever more faithful to her Master, than was Lucky towards her own Master, John. Ulysses & Argos! A Truly Appropriate & Lasting Memory of both John & Lucky together! Has anyone any such photo's of these friends together?

Dear John, & Dear Lucky, we shall both miss you two, both of you, so much. It was a great privilege to know you, John, & to hear all about your long & successful career in Devonport. It was also our great pleasure to be able to walk Darling Lucky who was such a lovely dog, & who will now be with you for ever. We loved Lucky, we loved walking her, & we would have been only too happy to offer her a good permanent & loving home when you could no longer take such good care of her. We shall always miss you both. You two were our first real friends when we first retired here to Plymouth...yes we shall continue to miss both you & Dearest Lucky for so long & long & long...& have happy walks together in Heaven...All Our Best Wishes & Our Full Love to You Both, Collett & Diana xxxxxxxx
