AdinaFLETCHERIt is with great sadness that our mother Mrs Adina Fletcher formerly Samuels, went to her maker, father almighty God and her saviour Jesus Christ in the early morning of 7th May 2026. Adina was born in Jamaica, St. Catherine on 27th May 1926. She married her first husband John Alexander Samuels in Jamaica and had four children, Monica, John, Alvado and Paulette. John (husband) left his family in Jamaica and came to the UK in the 60's after the second world war. He was part of the Windrush generation who was called to help rebuild Britain. Adina followed a year later and her and John both settled in Loughborough, outside of Leicestershire and had three more children, Angela, Trevor and Jessie. Adina worked tirelessly to raise the money to send for her four children, she unwillingly left behind. Adina divorced John in the late 60's, moved to Coventry and got remarried to Mr Lewis Fletcher. For many years she worked in the two major hospitals in the area, the Walsgrave Hospital now known as Coventry University Hospital and the former Hatton Hospital which is now closed. She remained absolutely devoted to her children and supported them through every situation throughout her life. A proud mother of 7 children, 26 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great great- grandchildren. Adina and Mr Lewis were among the first to become members of the Coventry West Indian Association. Adina was baptised at the formerly known Bell Green Life Centre and became a devoted Christian. Up until the age of 96 when Adina had her first stroke, she remained active, never lost her full facilities, did her own shopping, most of the household chores and even attended some keep fit classes. Above all she loved gardening, which was her pride and joy, splendid to the eye. Despite having the first stroke Adina was able to remain strong kept her mental clarity and was cognately sharp, she never missed a trick. At the age of 99 she suffered a second stroke and sadly her health deteriorated but for the sake of the children she was determined to try reach her 100th birthday. Sadly, only a few weeks before in the arms of John and Trevor she took her last breath.

How blessed and fortunate she was to have lived through 5 generations! So many shared her life, cherished her humour and contributed to her happiness. Rest In Peace mum, we will love you always. Although you are gone your legacy of love lives on in all of us.
