Eileen MaryBOLTON (NEE WILSON)Eileen spent all her life in the Bacup area. Born in Weir, Eileen then spent her early years in Upper Broadclough and then Rockcliffe House, before moving to Rockcliffe Wood just before the start of the Second World War. Eileen spent the last 54 years back in Upper Broadclough. Until the age of 11 Eileen attended St. Saviours School before going to Blackthorn, leaving at 14 to begin work at Maden & Ireland’s on Burnley Road, Bacup for a short time until moving to the Maidenese Shop on Market Street, Bacup and then moving to the parent company John Maden & Sons. Widow of Geoffrey Ashworth Bolton, she leaves her children Helen and Richard and her cousin Charles Wilson along with many in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends. She was a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Bacup for 48 years and sat on the NSPCC committee. She was a Horticultural Society of Bacup member and a volunteer clerk at Bacup and Waterfoot Health clinics for 20 years. A lover of books, crosswords and quizzes. Eileen also enjoyed attending Halle Opus One concerts with friends and loved live theatre from local amateur productions to the RSC. The service will take place at Knight and Boys Funeral Home Stacksteads at 11am on Tuesday, March 28 with funeral celebrant Kathy Unsworth. Family flowers only. Donations to Cancer Research UK.
