Martin was a wonderful fellow member of Somerset Chamber Choir and always campaigned for high quality choral music. We sang in many concerts together, over many years. He was right at the heart of our glorious bass section and…of the SCC banter! A twinkle in his eye would usually signal forthcoming humour! I loved his dry wit, comic timing, and camaraderie. Serious man too, on the issues that really mattered. Most recently he sang alongside me in the tenors, where we competed in terms of volume, pronunciation, accuracy etc.; I received knowing looks when clearly one of us exceeded our merits! We exchanged many views: some fantastic life insights. Ironically we only shared lunch recently: I got to know Martin a little better: the extent of his choral pursuits, many travels, reminiscing too about people, pieces and pasties! We wish Adele and the family all manner of strength in the months ahead, and in the knowledge that we will continue to share the love that Martin brought to us and to choral music. We’ll miss you cheeky boy. RIP.
